Clayton C. Harmon

STANDISH — Clayton C. Harmon, 87, died on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at his home.

He was born in Westbrook on Aug. 15, 1923, the son of Arthur C. and Louise Larkin Harmon. Clayton graduated from Gorham High School in 1941. Clayton worked for more than 44 years with Edwards & Walker Co., and Emery Waterhouse Co., retiring in 1985. He married Elsie E. Beckwith in 1945.

Clayton was Past Master and served as treasurer for 43 years of Standish Lodge #70 AF&AM. He was a Thirty Second Degree member of the Scottish Rite bodies in the Valley of Portland, a member of the Kora Shrine Temple in Lewiston and the Lake Region Shrine Club. He was also Past Sachem and Past Great Sachem of Presumpscot Tribe #21 IORM in Sebago, and was former treasurer of the Harding Cemetery Association in Standish.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years; three sons, Dennis C. of Franklin, Robert A. of Raymond and Ronald C. of Standish; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 16, at the North Gorham Church UCC, Standish Neck Road, Gorham, at 1 p.m. Arrangements by Dolby Funeral Chapel.
