Claire Knox

Claire E. Knox, 78, of Bridgton passed away at her home on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014 with her family at her side.

She was born on March 26, 1936 in Reading, Pa.

She was an active member of the choir at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Bridgton; board member and docent at the Portland Museum of Art, and board member and instructor at the Osher Life Long Learning Institute at the University of Southern Maine. Claire enjoyed skiing and tennis with her many friends. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English Literature from Boston University and was an instructor at Northeastern University in Boston.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Knox of Bridgton; sister Joan of Bradenton, Fla.; children Mark, Karen and James, as well as five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 41 Sweden Road, Bridgton, on Thursday, Aug. 7 at 4 p.m.
