PORTLAND — Clair Q. Heal, 84, of Naples and formerly of Taunton, Mass., died on Friday, May 29, 2015, at Maine Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

He was the husband of Priscilla F. (Kyle) Heal. He was born in Camden, on April 16, 1931, the son of the late Guy A. and Beatrice E. (Hersey) Heal. He grew up in both Camden and Pownal, attending schools in both places.

In June of 1952, Clair joined the U.S. Navy and served for eight years during the Korean Conflict.

Upon returning from service, he moved to Taunton, Mass., to be close to his family. While in Taunton, he held jobs at Prudential, however is favorite was with the Boys and Girls Club. After spending about 40 years in Taunton, he moved to Naples about 11 years ago and married Priscilla.

Clair was a friend of Bill W. for over 40 years. He also enjoyed camping, especially in Gray with Sunny and Chickie Fitzsimmons. Other interests included watching both golf and NASCAR.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his two “daughters” Beth and Jeanne Foote, both of Putnam, Conn., who affectionately called him “Pops.” He also leaves a niece, a nephew and a half-sister, Roslie Louis of Oregon; and a large circle of friends.

He was also the brother of the late Guy Heal Sr.

A celebration of life will be held at a time to be announced. Burial at Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland, will be held at the discretion of the family.
