Chester T. Dembowski

CASCO — Chester T. Dembowski, 83, of Miami, Fla. and a summer resident of Casco, passed away unexpectedly at Harmony Hall Nursing Home in Miami, Fla. on July 16, 2010.

Chester was born Oct. 11, 1926 in Fitchburg, Mass. to Peter and Helen Dembowski. He was a resident of Miami, Fla. for the past 53 years. He was a U.S. Marine, who served during World War II. He was married to Joan Costigan on Aug. 28, 1957 in South Portland at St. John's Catholic Church. Chester was a graduate of the University of Miami, where he received his B.A. degree in Education. He was a physical education teacher and a coach at St. Theresa Catholic School in Coral Gables. He later moved to the Dade County School system where he taught for 29 years.

He is survived by his three sons Peter A. Dembowski of Miami, Fla., Paul A. Dembowski of Casco and Phillip M. Dembowski of Loxley, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and his sister Lola Morrow of Denver, Colo.

A gravesite service will be held at Calvary Cemetery, 1461 Broadway, South Portland on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010 at 9:30 a.m.
