Charlotte W. Lord

FRYEBURG — Charlotte Ward Lord, 87, died peacefully Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 with her family by her side.

She was born Oct. 5, 1922  in North Conway, N.H., a daughter of Adrian and Viola “Smearer” Ward and was educated in North Conway schools, graduating from Kennett High School. She was a member of the Fryeburg New Church and the Women’s Alliance. She had been employed for years by many local businesses in the area and was one of the first members of the Fryeburg Rescue. Charlotte was well-known in the community for her generosity for helping other people and her love of her large family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter E. Lord Jr. in 1986; her son Bruce Lord in 2001; and a brother Frank Lord.

She is survived by four sons, Dale Lord of Harrison, Terry Lord of Mechanic Falls, Murrey of Georgetown, S.C. and Walter E. Lord III of Denmark; two daughters, Deborah Dolly and Jane Dutton, both of Fryeburg; two brothers, Adrian Lord of Naples and Gary Lord of Portland, Oregon; three sisters, Helen Ackley of Kennebunk, Gilda Thing of Harpswell and Shirley McLaughlin of Scarborough; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Fryeburg with the Rev. Sage Curry officiating.
