BRIDGTON — Charlotte E. Stevens, 67, of Bridgton, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Fryeburg Health Care Center.

Charlotte was born in Bridgton on Aug. 15, 1947, a daughter of Charles and Jane Sanborn Stevens. She attended Bridgton schools and graduated from Bridgton High School in 1966.

For most of her life, Charlotte was self-employed as a babysitter. She had also worked at Adams Pond Cottages, cleaning cabins. She was a member of the South Bridgton Congregational Church.

Born with Cerebral Palsy, Charlotte’s life was an uphill battle. For many years she attended the Pine Tree Camp in Rome. Her family was everything to her. She had an infectious smile and laugh and was a very upbeat person. She did for others, always remembering everyone in the family, especially the children with cards with a little something inside. She especially enjoyed flying, she took many trips to visit family. Her hands were never still, she was always making things for family and friends. She made refrigerator magnets for her entire class reunion. She was a very special person who taught everyone how to treat others. She handled adversity with such dignity and grace, and was always thankful.

Charlotte made her home at Fryeburg Health Care Center, where she enjoyed crafts and games, especially Bingo. She was an avid reader, reading mysteries and westerns. At 64 years old, Charlotte learned to knit.

She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Charles Stevens. Surviving are two sisters, Martha Richardson and her husband, David of Fryeburg, and Marion Stevens of Bridgton; two nieces, Leone Dyer (Dan) of Fryeburg and Lynn Cousert (Mike) of Bridgton; four nephews, David Richardson (Jen) and Dana Richardson (Sue) of Fryeburg, Steve Vining of Illinois, and Sam Vining (Annette) of Hiram; many cousins, and a very special cousin, Laura Eng of Lovell.

Her family wishes to thank Dr. Buzzell and the staff at Fryeburg Health Care for their loving care and support over the past six and a half years.

A graveside service will be held at the South High Street Cemetery in Bridgton at a time and date to be announced.
