Charles L. Cross

SEBAGO — Charles L. “Charlie” Cross, 66, of Sebago, died tragically, Saturday, Mar. 5, 2016, at his home in Sebago.

He was born on June 18, 1949, in Bridgton, a son of, Lee and Mary (Treadwell) Cross. He attended Bridgton High School and for 10 years early in his life worked at Yankee Machine in Casco.

Charlie moved to Claremont, N.H., in 1993 to be with his beloved longtime fiancée, Paula Simonds. While in Claremont he worked at Optimum Manufacturing.

Charlie returned to Sebago with Paula in July of 2002, and worked and subsequently retired from McAllister Machine in Saco on Aug. 29, 2015.

He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, ATVs and tinkering on anything he could get his hands on. Charlie was also a longtime member of the Crooked River Masonic Lodge.

Charlie will be forever loved and remembered as a devoted companion, father, grandfather and brother. He was a wonderful storyteller, whose tales will be sorely missed by those fortunate enough to have known him.

He is survived by his fiancée, Paula Simonds of Sebago; children, Debbie Marucci and her husband, Peter of Naples, Michael Cross and his wife Kelly of Sebago, Angela Hart and her husband Richard of Deltona, Fla., Charles Simonds and his wife Alyson of Claremont, N.H., and Brian Simonds and his wife Samantha of Charlestown, N.H.; nine grandchildren, Nicole and Samantha Marucci, Nancy Alexandra Hart, Morgan and Zachary Cross, Mikayla and Lacey Simonds, Bailey and Dillon Simonds; brothers, Gilbert Cross and his wife Carolyn, John “Jackie” Cross and his wife Cathy, and Gordon Cross, all of Bridgton; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Robert in 1983 and Richard in 2015; father-in-law, Leslie Pinkham.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Mar. 10, 2016, at the Chandler Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Bridgton. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 3 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2016.
