Charles Micklon

LOVELL — Charles E. Micklon, 69, of Lovell, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015, at the Veterans' home in South Paris, where he resided for the last year.

Born Aug. 7, 1945, in Norway, Charlie attended and graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1964. He then enlisted in the Army in 1966 as a Paratrooper and was stationed in Germany for 3 years. He was honorably discharged in 1970.

Charlie went to work at the Bridgton Knitting Mill and worked his way up into management. This is where he met Lynn Hurd. They married on Sept. 22, 1974. Several years later they built a home on Christian Hill Road in Lovell, which was his pride and joy. Charlie then went into car sales at Ripley & Fletcher's and then started his own business as Charlie's Chores.

Charlie was an outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting, and golfing. He also loved his cows and horses that he raised on his property. Charlie was also very committed to the Lovell Lions and the Delta Masonic Lodge #153 of Lovell, and was always there to lend a hand in any way possible.

Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Elizabeth Micklon; his brothers, Bert, Gerry and Earl Micklon. He is survived by his brother Richard Micklon; his two sisters, Delma Staley and Phyllis Libby; Charlie's sons, Colin C. Micklon and his wife Rose, and Steve M. Millett; along with his grandchildren, Bryce and Caleb Micklon, and Erika and Macie Millett; as well as several nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the entire staff and friends at the Veterans’ Home in South Paris for making his final days enjoyable. He was a jokester with a great heart, and had many friends that he's leaving behind.

The service will be held on Friday, March 20, at 11 a.m., at the VFW Hall in Lovell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Delta Lodge #153, 920 Lovell Road, Lovell, ME 04051. Arrangements are made with Wood Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.woodfunerlhome.org
