Cathy Hansen

MELBOURNE BEACH, FLA. — Cathy Hansen, 67, formerly of Bridgton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, with family around her. While growing up on Stevens Ave, in Portland, she was a graduate of Cathedral High School in 1965. Cathy was a hardworking, devoted single mom. Cathy married Harry Hansen in 1980 and naturally became a stepmom to his three children.
Cathy often had stories about the early days working as a bartender at the Office Pub. In addition to her hospitality service in Maine and Captain Hiram's, Cathy was a successful million dollar real estate agent in the Lake Region. She and Harry enjoyed their lives on Sebago Lake. During this time, she valued her many fun-loving friends and would welcome visitors to their home, whether they came by car or boat.
Cathy's love of her children was only overshadowed by the love and affection she had for her eleven grandchildren. Ask any of her grandchildren about Cathy, and they would tell stories about the many gifts of singing stuffed animals, lots of candy, and even cake on Halloween. However, Ollie said it best when he described "Grammie Chic" as funny, fun, and always thinking about others before herself.
In her retirement, Cathy enjoyed spending her winters in Melbourne Beach, Fla., with Harry. Here, she enjoyed walks on her beach and adventures with her friends away from what she called the "Maine Tundra." She continued her hobby in photography and won a local award for a photo of Sebastian Inlet.
Cathy is predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Catherine Oliver. She is survived by her husband, Harry Hansen; sister and her husband, Francis and Fenwick Fowler; two brothers and their wives, John and Anita Oliver and Thomas Oliver and Terry Koliche; her children and their spouses, Lisa and James Backman, Raymond and Ana Letarte, Raymond and Sena Hansen, Tamra and Heather Hansen, and Jeffery Hansen; eleven incredible grandchildren; a thoughtful niece; and two special nephews.
A celebration of life memorial will be held in the spring in Maine. Arrangements by Davis Seawinds Funeral Home, 560 Montreal Ave., Melbourne, FL 32935, davisseawindsfh@aol.com
