Catherine Sullivan, 87

WORCESTER, MASS. — Catherine (Kay) Sullivan, 87, of Worcester, Mass., beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Sept. 16, 2012.

Catherine beamed with delight when she was in the presence of or talking about her only grandchild, Katelyn Sullivan of Naples.

She was predeceased by her husband, Cornelius S. Sullivan (1989). They enjoyed winter vacations in the Mt. Washington Valley area and instilled their love of winter sports in their boys. Later, the family summered on Sebago Lake in Standish.

She taught for many years in the Worcester Public Schools. In 1987, she was named Worcester Public Schools Teacher of the Year.

Catherine is survived by three loving sons, Neil Patrick Sullivan of Mesquite, Nev., retired USMC Lt. Col. Sean M. Sullivan of Chicago, Ill. and Brian T. Sullivan of Naples.

Calling hours were held on Monday, Sept. 17, at Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster Street, Worcester. A funeral Mass was held at Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove Street, Worcester, on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m.
