WINDHAM — Carolyne “Carrie” Louise Walker, 78, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born July 3, 1938, in Portland, the daughter of Walter H. and Faith (Pennell) Smith.

Carrie grew up in South Portland and attended local schools. She enjoyed a career at Health-Tex, and was a dedicated member of the Women of Moose, Chapter #1971 in Scarborough, where she had been a member for 53 years. She was an avid seasonal camper and enjoyed her ornamental plants. Carrie will be remembered as a stern and stubborn woman with a big heart.

In addition to her parents, Carrie was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Ervin A. Walker Jr.; and her sister, Jeanette Brann.

She is survived by her children, Ervin A. Walker III of Poland, Lynn-Louise Holman of Windham and Robin Walker of Windham; brother, Walter P. Smith of Casco; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours were held on Sunday, Oct. 9, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham, where a funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10. Burial followed at Dolley Cemetery, Varney Mill Road, Windham.
