Carol Strom

Carol (Coghlin) Strom, 80, of Bridgton, formerly of Medfield, Mass., died unexpectedly, Tuesday, June 5, 2018, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born on Dec. 24, 1937 in Boston, Mass.. Carol graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy in Boston. She married Stanley G. Strom in 1956. Together they raised four children in Medfield, Mass. She retired as an executive secretary for the Chrysler Corp., then moved to Bridgton, Maine with her loving husband of over 50 years until his death in 2010.

Carol was a very involved member of St. Joseph Church in Bridgton, including the Women's Guild and the Lazarus Society. She participated with the St. Joseph food pantry and the garden club. While in Medfield she belonged to the League of Women's Voters, a Girl Scout Leader and a CCD teacher. She felt very strongly about giving back to the community. Carol enjoyed figure skating with her daughters. She also enjoyed living on the lake, watching the loons and birds in her yard.

She is survived by her children, Stanley G. Strom Jr. and his wife, Carol of Portsmouth, N.H.; and Karen Kelson and her husband, Brian of Turner. She was predeceased by daughters, AnnMarie Hollis (Strom) and Jamie Mantz (Strom). She was the grandmother of eight grandchildren: Michael and Nikki Kelson of Auburn, MaryBeth Kelson of Hampden, Melissa (Kelson) and Kyle Staples of Standish, Austin Mantz, Courtney Mantz, Kyle Mantz, and Elliot Mantz of Medfield, Mass., and Rick Hollis of Walpole, Mass. She was predeceased by her brother James Coghlin of Palo Alto, Calif.

Family and friends were invited to a time of memorial visitation from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, June 11 at the Chandler Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Bridgton. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 12 at St. Joseph Church, 225 S. High St., Bridgton, Maine 04009. Private family interment will take place at a later date at the Vine Lake Cemetery in Medfield, Mass.
