Carmella P. Laskey, 89

Carmella P. Laskey

WINDHAM — Carmella Pecoraro Laskey “Minola,” a lifelong resident of Windham, died April 20, 2017, at her home.

Born to parents Agostino and Anna Pecoraro on March 17, 1928, in Windham, Minola worked at the Ellis Paper Board Company from high school through retirement. She married Merrill “Tally” Laskey, and they spent their lives together in Windham while wintering in their home in Lake Alfred, Fla.

Minola was a pastor’s wife, and enjoyed cooking for the parish. She had a gift for baking. Her Needhams, fudge, spaghetti sauce, and pies (for which she always picked her own berries) were delectable. She was also an avid gardener. She had a “green thumb” and canned her own vegetables and pickles. Minola was always eager to share her delicious goods with her family and friends.

Minola had a gift for gab, and a wonderful smile and laugh that would light up a room.

She is survived by her husband Merrill Calvert Laskey of Windham; a sister Julia Larrabee; a nephew; brothers, Agostino Pecoraro of Revere, Mass., and John Pecoraro of Denmark.

She was predeceased by her parents Anna and Agostino Pecoraro; her brothers Gene, Generean, Anthony and Joseph Pecoraro; and sisters Mary Maglione and Caroline Camusi. Minola also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Carmella will be buried at Arlington Cemetery, in North Windham. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 3 p.m. To express condolences and to participate in Minola’s online tribute, please visit: www.dolbyfuneralchapels.com
