Captain David Mains

RAYMOND — Captain David Alexander Mains, 48, died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Monday, June 25, 2018.

Born June 11, 1970, in Portsmouth, N.H., to Margaret Reynolds and Claude “Mac” Mains, David was a dedicated firefighter, who loved his family, community and his motorcycle club.

David graduated from Windham High School, attended Wentworth Institute of Technology, and received a degree in architecture drafting. He has been a devoted member of the Raymond Fire Department for many years. Captain Mains has been honored as Firefighter of the Year, awarded many community service awards, and honored with the Chief’s Award.

His greatest accomplishments included being a responsible and loving father to his four children, a devoted husband to his wife Jennifer, a loving son to his mother and father and a supportive brother to his sister April and family.

When not on duty at the Raymond Fire Department, David enjoyed riding as an officer of Fire & Iron with his many extended family members. He was also an avid outdoorsman and was an accomplished hunter and fisherman. Recently, he started golfing and has participated in an annual Ironman Golf tournament on Jekyll Island for the past several years.

David is survived by his wife, Jennifer Bishop Mains; mother, Margaret Mains; his sons Sean Michael, Anthony Joseph (AJ) and Noah Roberts; and his daughter Kirsten Noel. He is also survived by his sister, April Lynne; and nieces.

He is predeceased by his father, Claude (Mac) Mains; paternal grandparents Grace and Sheldon Mains; and maternal grandparents Frank and Helen Reynolds.

There was a memorial service at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 2. The service was held at Jordan Small Middle School, 434 Webbs Mills Road. Firefighters were asked to attend in Class “A” uniforms. Online condolences may be left for the family at
