Burton E. Davis

HARPSWELL — Burton E. Davis, 76, of Sebring, Fla., died unexpectedly on Aug. 1, 2011, in Harpswell, while on an evening bike ride with his wife.

Burton was born in Portland on June 26, 1935, the son of Elmer Davis and Ellen Dyer Davis. He graduated from Deering High School, served in the U.S. Army with a deployment to South Korea and worked for Pepsi Cola at the Seltzer & Rydholm bottling company for over 40 years before retiring.

Along with his wife, Mary, Burt traveled extensively, visiting Great Britain, Maritime Canada and much of the United States. Whether in their RV for a vacation or just out for the Sunday paper, Burt always enjoyed being “on the road again.”

Burt will be remembered for his wonderful way with people, his generosity and his sense of humor. A truly good man, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Mallory Davis of Sebring, Fla.; his son, Edward Davis of Raymond; his daughter, Sharon Davis Pearson of Bradenton, Fla.; brother, Irving Davis of Windham; and sister, Ruth Spiller of Portland.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick. Interment was at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011. Condolences can be expressed to the family at www.brackettfuneralhome.com
