WINDHAM — Bruce Wayne Smart, 65, of Windham, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 at Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Gorham, the son of Joseph and Gladys Mae Smart. Bruce worked at the Portland Jetport for National and Hertz Car Rental, and then took a position with his brother at Crystal Clean Car Wash. He later became a driver for General Courier, which he has done for many years.

Bruce enjoyed the many trips he took to New Hampshire with his wife Patricia over the years. They enjoyed exploring different areas in the state. He also loved his work and the places he would visit along his route. Bruce also cherished the many hours he spent playing video games with his son, Terrence, when he was younger.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Dunn) Smart of Windham; his mother, Gladys M. Phinney of Gray; son, Terrence Smart of Westbrook; brothers, Bryan Phinney of Gray, Christian Phinney of New Gloucester, Abraham Phinney of Raymond and Kerry Phinney of South Paris; sisters, Maxine Lynch of La Mesa, Calif. and Heather Phinney of Gray; his father and mother-in-law, Ed and Dawn Dunn of Westbrook; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Tuesday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church Street, Westbrook followed by a memorial service. Interment will be in the spring in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland. Online condolences may be expressed at blaisandhayfuneralhome.com
