Beverlee A. Smith, 80

NAPLES – Beverlee Ann Duncan Smith, 80, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018.

She was born in Boston, Mass., on April 8, 1937, to Frederick B. and Helen E. Duncan of Winthrop, Mass.

She is survived by two sons, Todd (Jennifer) of Saugus, Mass., and Mark (Nicole) of South Paris. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jillian, Kyle, Katie, Ryan, and Kyler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Edward J. Smith III.

A dedicated teacher. Mrs. Smith affected the lives of thousands of students from Conneticut to Massachusetts, Ohio and Maine. In 1996 she retired and moved to Naples. She "unretired" to become the Librarian and Reading Coach at Songo Locks School in Naples until 2010.

A private burial will be held at the Edes Falls Cemetery in Naples. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted in memory of Beverlee D. Smith at Harvest Hills Animal Shelter, 1389 Bridgton Road, Fryeburg, ME 04037, or at the Naples Public Library, 940 Roosevelt Trail, Naples, ME 04055.
