FRYEBURG — Betty B. Baker, 89, of Fryeburg, died on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Fryeburg Health Care Center.

She was born in Fryeburg on May 5, 1926, the daughter of Leo and Ernestine “Eastman” Bell and was educated in Fryeburg schools. She graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1944.

After high school, she was secretary for Mr. Elroy LaCasce at Fryeburg Academy. Betty married Donald E. Baker on Nov. 16, 1946. She was a stay at home mom until all of her children were in school. She worked in the office of Burnham and Morrill Corn Shop in Fryeburg Center. She also drove a school bus for kindergarten students. Betty was later employed at Fryeburg Water Company as a bookkeeper for 35 years, retiring in February, 2001.

She was a member of the Fryeburg-Lovell VFW Aux. #6783, Frank William Post Aux. #136, Fryeburg New Church, Fryeburg Historical Society, the Merry Makers Christmas Club, and the Red Hat Society.

Betty loved her family and was active in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially wanted her family all together for the holidays, especially Christmas.

She was predeceased by her husband Donald in 1989; a stepson, Ronald Baker; step-grandson, grandson and a step-granddaughter; and two sisters, Dorothy Aube and Virginia Emery.

She is survived by her three sons, Donald Baker Jr. of Fryeburg, Bradford L. Baker of South Portland and Brian Baker of Fryeburg; a daughter, Bonnie Berg of Limington; a stepson, Alan of Fryeburg; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; three great-granddaughters, two step-great-granddaughters; and one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews; and cousins.

Visiting hours were held Saturday, May 30, at Wood Funeral Home, 9 Warren Street, Fryeburg. A funeral service was held Sunday, May 31, at Fryeburg New Church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.woodfuneralhome.org
