Barbara Young

WESTBROOK — Barbara L. Young, 85, of Westbrook, died on Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a brief illness.

She was born in Augusta on April 30, 1929, the daughter of Alfred E. Allen and Arlene (Tripp) Allen. Mrs. Young attended Augusta schools, graduating from Cony High School.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Maine Line Tours as a tour guide for many years.

Her husband, Vaughn A. Young, predeceased her on Jan. 28, 1998. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Allen.

She is survived by a son, Gregory Young of Westbrook; two daughters, Janice Rowbotham of Raymond and Linda Burns of Brunswick; two sisters, Marilyn Blanchard of Florida and Jean Greenleaf of Winthrop; and five grandchildren.

There will be no public visiting hours. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at 10 a.m., at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta.
