Barbara Munson

SOUTH PORTLAND — Barbara Lucille (Sass) Munson, 74, of South Portland passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at her home after a brief battle with cancer.

Born on Sept. 11, 1942 in Portland, she graduated from South Portland High School in 1962 and worked at Maine Bonding and Casualty for 30 years. She enjoyed car rides to the beach and going to Spring Point to see the osprey, as well as playing Sorry with her sister, children and grandchildren. She loved being outside, watching planes take off at the airport, spending time with her family, watching home makeover shows, and she always tried her hardest not to miss the Red Sox when they were playing.

She is predeceased by her parents, Arpad and Lucille Sass; as well as her husband Richard Munson.

She is survived by her sisters, Marilyn (Sass) Roberge of Windham and Janet (Sass) Matthews of Raymond; her brother, Bradley Sass Sr. of Hollis; her three beautiful daughters, Tina Munson, Donna (Munson) Sellick and Jen (Munson) Poland; four grandchildren as well as a new great-granddaughter and a great-grandson on the way.

Visiting hours were held on Saturday, June 24 at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment at Forest City Cemetery following the service.
