Barbara J. Miller

NAPLES — Barbara J. “Babs” Miller, 68, of Naples, passed away at her home on March 15, 2011.

Barbara was born and raised in South Portland, and moved to Naples in 1976, where she fell in love with the town and everyone in it. She attended the University of Southern Maine, and focused on Art and History, which she used as a SAD 61 substitute teacher for several years.
Barbara loved to read and would often say, “reading a book several times was like visiting an old friend.” She loved to sew and made many special things for the ones she loved.

Barbara’s outgoing personality made her a perfect fit at Tony’s Umbrella Factory for many years. She remembered everyone and always asked how people were doing even after a year had passed. A great friend and mother to many, may you rest in peace.

She was predeceased by both her parents; a sister; a brother; and a son, Edward.

She is survived by two daughters, Dona Lee of Auburndale, Fla. and Rebecca of Sebago; four sons, Patrick of Portland, David of Pensacola, Fla., Craig of Casco and Jason of Portsmouth, N.H.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial and celebration of her life potluck dinner was held at the American Legion in Naples on Friday, March 25, 2011. In lieu of flowers, attendees were asked to bring a dish and story of Babs to assist in remembering all the good times.
