Barbara McDaniel

BRIDGTON — Barbara J. McDaniel, 82, of Bridgton, died early Tuesday morning, April 7, 2015, at Bridgton Hospital.

She was born on Dec. 8, 1932, in Orange, N.J., a daughter of Stanley and Radience (Knight) Kramer. Her family moved to Bridgton when she was two years old and she went on to attend local schools, graduating from Bridgton High School in 1951. In 1952 she graduated from the Golden School of Beauty in Portland, and that same year, on July 4th, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard D. McDaniel.

Barbara owned and operated Barbara’s Beauty Salon for many years in the Bridgton area. She also worked for two years for Joan Emerson at El Fa Br Beauty Shop.

She was a lifelong member of the Bridgton United Methodist Church, and was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Barbara was a CB enthusiast and went by the handle, “Barbie Doll.”

She was loved by her husband Richard of Bridgton; a son Dale McDaniel and his fiancée Jennifer Schaeffer of Bridgton; two nieces, Cindy Stackhouse of Bridgton and Penny Thomas of Norway; two nephews, Chris McDaniel of Bridgton and Jerry McDaniel of Mo.; two great-nieces and three great-nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, June Stackhouse.

Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation, Friday, April 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Chandler Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Bridgton, where members of the Order of Eastern Star will conduct a service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 18, at the United Methodist Church in Bridgton. Interment will take place later in the spring at the Forest Hills Cemetery in Bridgton.
