Barbara A. Broadhead

SOUTH PARIS — Barbara Ann Broadhead, 72, of South Paris and formerly of Harrison, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012 at the Market Square Health Care Center after a battle with cancer. Her loving family and best friend were by her side.

She was born on April 10, 1940, in Torrington, Conn., the daughter of Benjamin and Louise (Gillette) Weingart. Along with her sisters, Elizabeth and Dorothy, she graduated from high school in North Andover, Mass. She married Tom A. Broadhead in 1960. Barbara and Tom moved to Harrison in 1976, where they bought Vacationland Campground, which they ran for the next 25 years.

During the last 29 years, she also worked as a secretary for the Oxford Hills school district, primarily in the middle school administration office, where she was well known to many in the community. She enjoyed camping, holidays and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband, Tom; her five children, Sharon Imbert of Dover-Foxcroft, Tom of Laurel, Va., Susan Bundy of South Paris, Garrett of New Durham, N.H. and Andrew of Baltimore, Md.; as well as 11 grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her sisters.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, at Oxford Hills & Weston Funeral Home, 1037 Main Street, Route 26, Oxford. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, at the funeral home.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, people make donations to the Barbara Broadhead Memorial Fund, care of Oxford Hills Middle School.
