Angelo Alonzo

WINDHAM — Angelo J. Alonzo, 29, of Windham, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, in Portland.

He was born in Portland on March 10, 1987, the son of Genaro C. Alonzo and Ruth Merritt. He attended South Portland schools and graduated from Windham High School.

Angelo served in the Army National Guard, and he later pursued a career in car sales and carpentry.

Described as a health nut, he enjoyed basketball and talking about sport statistics.

Angelo was predeceased by his father, and his Nana, Katie Alonzo.

Survivors include his mother, Ruth Merritt of Windham; grandfather, Enrique Alonzo of South Portland; grandmother, Patricia Merritt of Baldwin; a sister, Natasha Alonzo of Bowdoinham; special aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews; and many people he touched, encouraged and supported along the way.

A celebration of Angelo’s life will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the VFW Post 832, 50 Peary Terrace, South Portland, with military honors held at 2:30 p.m. Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home and Cremation, Buxton, is in charge of the arrangements.
