Alice G. Geary

CAPE ELIZABETH — Alice G. (Jensen) Geary, 94, of Cape Elizabeth, formerly of New Hampshire and Massachusetts, died on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at Piper Shores.

She was the wife of the late Harold B. Geary Jr. who died in 2003.

Alice was born on Sept. 7, 1917, in Gloucester, Mass., one of seven daughters born to the late Alfred and Gertrude (Hamilton) Jensen. She grew up in Gloucester and graduated from Gloucester High School.

She was the town accountant for Danvers, Mass., for many years before retiring in 1979. After her retirement, she and her husband moved to Laconia, N.H., followed by North Hampton, N.H. Following her husband’s death, she moved to Cape Elizabeth in 2005, where she resided with her daughter Marjorie and her grandson, Douglas.

She enjoyed traveling with her family to several locations in Europe, Disney World and Lake Winnipesaukee. Her greatest pleasure, however, was spending time with her family. She so enjoyed telling stories, laughing and singing with Douglas and his children, Nathan, Nicholas and Abigail, and her grandson James, his wife Karen, and their children Laura and Ashley who live locally.

She is survived by her three daughters, Marjorie G. Ryer of Cape Elizabeth, Virginia A. Geary of Leydon, Mass., and Paula J. Shalkoski of Georgetown, Mass.; and her son, Thomas F. Geary of Baldwin; 14 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Carlie Davis of Gloucester, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass was held at St. Mary’s of the Annunciation, Conant Street, Danvers, Mass. Burial followed in St. Mary’s of the Annunciation Cemetery, Hobart Street, Danvers, Mass.
