Agnes E. Thompson, 93

South Paris — Agnes Ellen Thompson, 93, of Casco, died Tuesday, Sept. 4 at the Maine Veterans' Home. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on Nov. 17, 1918, the daughter of Andrew Thompson Sr. and Ester Eddie Thompson.

She spent her preschool years in the country of Norway. Upon entering public school in the United States, she had to learn and adapt to the English language. She graduated from Jamaica High School in the borough of Queens, New York and served in the Women’s Army Air Corps during World War II. Agnes worked as a secretary at Eastern Airlines for 33 years in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Miami, Florida. She retired to Kissimmee and St. Cloud, Florida, where she enjoyed writing stories, creating poems and painting. In 2004 she became a resident of the Casco Residential Inn.

She is survived by her brother, Andrew Thompson of Harrison; her niece, Susan Lobsiger of Gretna, Nebraska; two grand-nieces, Brianna Thompson of Portland and Karlee Lobsiger of Gretna, Nebraska; and a grand-nephew, Alex Thompson of Norway. Graveside services will be held at the Harrison Village Cemetery in Harrison on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m.
