Adla Saliba

Adla Mudarri Saliba, 100, died peacefully on Friday, May 29, 2015, in Bridgton.

She was born on Oct. 8, 1914, in Damascus, Syria, and immigrated to the United States in 1932. She was the daughter of Habib Mudarri and Selma Hayek Mudarri.

Adla was the youngest of nine children. She was married to Jacob Saliba for 64 years and was a longtime resident of Belmont, Mass., and Bridgton.

Adla is survived by sons John Saliba of Bridgton and Thomas Saliba of Dover, N.H.; and daughter Barbara Saliba Ryan of Washington, D.C. Adla's grandchildren are Nadia Saliba of London, England, Leila Saliba Paradise of Wayland, Mass., Serene Saliba Murphy of London, England, Jacob L.V. Saliba of San Francisco, Calif., Kelly Saliba Ryan of Charlotte, N.C., Martin J. Ryan IV of Washington, D.C.; and great-granddaughter Elizabeth Murphy of London, England.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the fall of 2015. The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Adla's memory to The Desanctis Legacy Fund at Massachusetts General Hospital.
